Woody Hume Woody Hume has lived most of his life in the Northern Virginia area, playing many different styles of music. During the 1970s and early 80s, he played in several Top 40 commercial rock groups performing around the Washington, D.C. area. His love for jazz begin while living and earning a Bachelors of Music Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. During this time, he spent many weekends in New Orleans experiencing Dixieland and swing music. Woody has been actively involved in Contemporary Christian music and is currently a worship leader in Dranesville United Methodist Church's contemporary worship service, and is the percussionist in their Praise Team "Upon This Rock". He often plays the drum set, but is also an accomplished Latin and African percussionist. He has also been involved in performing with his church's hand bell choir. He spent the last 26 years as a free lance drummer and percussionist. He played with the late Easy Smith jazz group for 18 years. Woody is the solid time keeper with the "The Donna Salter Quartet", and they can be heard the first Friday of each month at the Ice House Café. |
